Frequently Asked Question

Can the employee app also be published in Apple's public App Store?

Last Updated 3 years ago

Basically, Apple has two ways to make apps available to users:

1. Apple's public App Store

Apps published and offered in Apple's App Store must meet certain requirements. Apple requires every app in the App Store to be secure, provide a good user experience, respect user privacy, protect devices from malware and threats, and use approved business models. For this reason, before apps are published to the App Store, they are reviewed by Apple. This review also looks at whether the app's content is relevant to a broad public audience. Only if the reviewers come to the conclusion that the app meets all the requirements is it published in Apple's App Store and available for download by all users. If you want to publish your employee app in Apple's public App Store, this article might be of interest to you.

2. Apple Business Manager

Apple Business Manager allows apps to be distributed privately and securely to members of organizations. These are apps that meet specific business needs of organizations and are not suitable for a broad, public audience.
For this reason, those apps are then not published in Apple's public App Store. Usually, links are sent to the relevant individuals, which can then be used to download the app.

If you want to send access to your employee app to your employees via Apple Business Manager, this article might be interesting for you.
