In order not to lose track of a message that has already been opened by you, you can mark it as unread.

Step 1:

To mark a chat as unread, click the cog next to the chat in the overview.

Step 2:

Next click on Mark as unread.

From now on, a notification will be displayed until the chat is opened once again.
